Question:
I burned a CD and all seems to have gone well. But when I click on the drive and try to access the files it say the folder is empty!
Answer:
Reboot the computer and then look at the CD. Sometimes Windows does no update the new files structure immediately. This is very important on Win 98, and Me they almost never show the new files with out a reboot.

Question: I am a long time user, but today the burner will not allow me to drag and drop files for burning.
Answer: Another installed program replaced critical components that the Cheetah CD Burner requires to run. Just un-install the old one and re-install this one and it will be fine.

Question:
I have a CD or DVD Burner drive (Hardware) installed in my computer but when I run the Cheetah CD Burner or Cheetah DVD Burner my drive is not recognized. There are no CD/DVD Burner drives showing in the Drives Combo Box.
Answer:
Administrative rights are required to burn a CD or DVD.
To give CD/DVD rights to a non-administrative user, do the following:
1) Open 'Control Panel' and click on 'Administrative Tools'.
2) Double click on 'Local Security Policy'.
3) Double click on 'Security Options'.
4) Double click on 'Restrict CD-ROM access to locally logged-on users only'.
5) Click on Enabled.

You can Install NMSAccess
This service will provide CD/DVD access for any user under NT/XP/2000 regardless of Security Policies.

Question: I bought some bargain Blank CD’s and every other one causes Burn Errors.
Answer: This can also happen with a pack of good CD’s or DVD’s that have gone bad, or are just old. But typically if you are getting a lot of burn errors, the blank disc’s you are using may be B grade or C grade disc’s that were sold at a discount.
How are Grade A, Grade B, and Grade C CD-R discs defined? Are they all usable?
Question: I burned an Audio CD but it will not play in my home or car stereo?
Answer:
1. Check to ensure that the files on the burned CD have the .cda extension.
2. Does it play in your computer's CD drive?
3. If it works in your computer, and has .cda files on it, the Stereo may be too old to handle CD-R discs.
Some older Stereos have trouble with burned music CD’s, especially the chrome ones that don’t really have a solid back color. A good quality CD blank with a solid back side color, can really make a difference. Some of the cheaper B grade CD’s can cause all sorts of issues.
How are Grade A, Grade B, and Grade C CD-R discs defined?

Question: When attempting to access the software, I received an error “Run Time Error 381 – Invalid property array index”.
Note: This Applies to all Run Time Errors.

Question: Can I burn an Audio CD then later add more songs to the disc?
Answer: No... Audio CD’s can only be burned once; they are always closed after the burning is complete. Audio CD's are always closed or they will not play in your home stereo.
Finalize Disc
Sometimes called a Closed Disc, this option locks the disc after the burning is completed so that nothing more can be written to it. This option can be used when delivering a final release or document for distribution.

Question: What is ASPI and SPTI in the Settings Panel?
Answer:
The acronym ASPI stands for Advanced SCSI Programming Interface. ASPI layer, drivers, interface & file system are synonymous. System software and applications use ASPI not only to interface with SCSI devices but with IDE/ATAPI devices when ripping & burning CDs. The ASPI protocol is primarily based on one file, wnaspi32.dll. There are other files that support wnaspi32.dll, referred to as the ASPI layer. The Windows 95/98/Me install includes wnaspi32.dll & the ASPI layer. The 2K/XP installs do not include neither wnaspi32.dll nor the ASPI layer and instead use the ‘SCSI Pass Through” interface. It is better to use the ‘SCSI Pass Through” interface the ASPI option is in there just a backup option. If your CD Burner is giving you trouble.

Question: Will an MPEG burned onto a CD Play in my DVD Player?
Answer: Yes most DVD players will play an MPEG burned onto a CD or
a DVD-R Disc. I have not had much luck with DVD+R's. I have an APEX DVD player.
VCD, SVCD, and DVD refer to the Quality of the MPEG Video.

Answer: No – It uses track-at-once (TAO) mode, which writes each track independently, and requires link blocks between two tracks
Question: I am trying to copy a .cda file. I can not copy it as a music file ....
Answer:
Go to the Cheetah CD Burner Start Menu and select CD Ripper.
Then select the track you would like to extract from the audio CD. You can also burn these songs to an audio CD By selecting the Audio CD Burner Option from the Cheetah Start Menu.

There is a menu option on the right hand side called "Show Views" you can either click the Button to select different views or Click the Drop Down Menu on the Button to select The thumbnails option.
This will allow you to view a thumbnail of your photos in the directory that you are browsing.
Make sure you have selected the Data CD Option from the Start menu, and then just drag the photos from the right hand side (File Browser) to the left side into the window for items to Burn.
Then Click write and that's it, and what is really cool is that a lot of the newer DVD players will run the CD with your photo’s like a slide show. I have an Apex DVD player and it does it.

Solution :
Try in this order:
1) Make sure you have the latest version, reboot after installing.
2) Try a slower write speed
3) Select caching in the Settings panel
4) Uninstall other CD Burning software
5) Try the ASPI option in the Settings Panel
6) Try a different CD burning software package till you find one that works.

Error: Writing Error: (3) Error occurred writing data to disc. A buffer under-run has occurred (1008).
Solution: Just do a Reboot it should be fine
Sometimes the Buffer can't keep up with the Laser, if the Computer slows down
If it happens again try a slower write speed

This happens when the table of contents is being recorded, Window’s suddenly sees the new CD and tries to read it, and this can cause the burn to fail.
Solution :
Windows NT4/2000/XP Settings:
Set the following registry value to disable Auto-Insert Notification using RegEdit.exe: HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE/SYSTEM/CurrentControlSet/Services/Cdrom/Autorun=0
Windows 95/98/ME Settings:
1) Open 'Control Panel' and click on 'System'.
2) Select 'Device Manager' tab.
3) Click on the CD-Rom icon
4) For every CD/DVD device in the list, do the following:
Select the Device.
Select 'Settings'.
Enable 'Disconnect'.
Enable 'Sync Data Transfer'.
Disable 'Auto Insert Notification'.
Enable 'DMA' (if available).
Click on 'OK'.
5) Repeat #4 for each device.
6) Reboot the system for settings to take effect.

Solution :Slow down the speed to 32x or Slower - also reboot the system

Error : Writing Error: (3) Error occurred writing data to disc. A flaw exists in the Power calibration area (1048). Error Sense Data: SENSE KEY: 3 ASC: 73 ASCQ: 3
Cause : This error is caused by a CD Burner that is going bad or the most common cause is a Bad CD-R Blank
Solution: Try a new CD Blank or a different brand

Error : I was Burning an Audio CD and about midway thru the burn process this error occurred.
An unknown device error has occurred (1051). Extended Error Data - KEY: 5 ASC: 21 ASCQ: 2
Example:
Burn Track Number : Writing Track 20...
CD Burner Type and Model : E: DVD-ROM SD-R2002 TOSHIBA
CD Burner Speed : 4x
Cause : Some MP3’s can cause this problem if they have errors, even though they might play OK.
Solution :Just remove the MP3 that it stopped on, and try to burn the CD again.
If the problem still persists reboot the system and try it again.
Error : A file error was encountered while writing the disc. Some files may be missing...
Cause : For some reason the operating system will not grant the CD Burning Software access to the file in question.
Solution :You can either delete the file that is causing it or right click it and see what the permission settings are then set
them to a less secure setting.
System Configuration
General Issues:
AIN (Auto-Insert Notification) - Be aware that other CD/DVD aware applications may change the AIN settings burning issues. Please be aware of this issue. If AIN is turned on in the target system, audio and data discs may not close properly, at all, or possible hang the system. It is very important to turn this off. The settings listed below will disable AIN.
Windows 95/98/ME Settings:
1) Open 'Control Panel' and click on 'System'.
2) Select 'Device Manager' tab.
3) Click on the CD-Rom icon
4) For every CD/DVD device in the list, do the following:
Select the Device.
Select 'Settings'.
Enable 'Disconnect'.
Enable 'Sync Data Transfer'.
Disable 'Auto Insert Notification'.
Enable 'DMA' (if available).
Click on 'OK'.
5) Repeat #4 for each device.
6) Reboot the system for settings to take effect.
Windows NT4/2000/XP Settings:
Windows NT4 must have Service Pack 6 installed.
Set the following registry value to disable Auto-Insert Notification using RegEdit.exe: HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE/SYSTEM/CurrentControlSet/Services/Cdrom/Autorun=0
It is recommended to have updated IDE/ATAPI drivers, especially if you are using the SCSI Pass-Through option instead of ASPI. Using SCSI Pass-Through is the default setting for Windows NT4/XP/2000 systems.
it may be necessary to have security rights to use the CD/DVD drives. To give CD rights to a non-administrative user, do the following:
1) Open 'Control Panel' and click on 'Administrative Tools'.

NOTE: CD/DVD access is not currently possible for users with Non-Administrative rights for Windows XP Home Operating System. Microsoft does not provide a mechanism to provide access this type of access. This limitation does not apply to the Windows XP Professional Operating System.
What about ASPI?
Our components do not rely on the ASPI layer for Windows NT4/XP/ 2000, but can be used optionally. Under Windows 9X/ME systems, we use the currently installed ASPI layer (Microsoft ships ASPI with these systems). The following information is only for developers who want to install updated ASPI drivers, or Developers who choose to use the ASPI option under Windows NT/XP/2000 systems.
Certain software products can install incompatible, non-standard ASPI drivers. Users may be experience compatibility issues if other software products have installed non-standard drivers.
Windows 95/98/ME all ship with ASPI drivers from Microsoft which work very well, but if you want to update them (in the case that other software has installed another incompatible version of ASPI), you will need to obtain ASPI drivers under a license from Adaptec, Inc. NOTE: Our software will run well under Windows 95/98/ME as long as the ASPI layer has not been corrupted by a non-standard version. These are recommended steps to take in case you want to update the ASPI layer with the latest Adaptec ASPI layer. Unfortunately, the ASPI installation from Adaptec, may not modify the system registry correctly for error free performance, so you may need to modify the registry . Here are the registry settings which should be in place for your system to run smoothly with the newly installed ASPI layer. This is not related to our product, just a couple of helpful hints if you decide to add this functionality:

Launch RegEdit.exe (from the Start-Run window) to access your Registry and search for the string "ExcludeMiniports". This also can be done through your application or installation program, but the implementation is up to you. If the values are not there, ASPI is probably not installed correctly. The settings are located in the following locations:

If "ExcludeMiniports" is present, it probably has "ATAPI" as the value. Depending on your system, this should either say either"ATAPI" or be an empty string. "ATAPI" or an empty string are the only valid settings we are aware of. If you can't find it in your registry, your ASPI layer is probably not installed correctly or corrupted. The empty value seems to work on most systems, but there are cases where it should say "ATAPI". It is pretty much a cases by case basis. After you change any of these settings, make sure to reboot the system to make the changes take effect.
